Manufacturing process of Straight Teeth Racks
Stock Material: The process begins with raw material, often carbon steel like C45, 42CrMo, or stainless steel, depending on the application.
Blanking: The round rod material is cut to length to form a blank, which is then turned to the correct dimensions.
Gear Hobbing or Rack Cutting: The primary method for cutting teeth is with a rack cutting machine or a gear hobbing machine.
Rack Cutting: A reciprocating cutting tool shaped like the desired gear teeth cuts into the blank. The blank is rotated after each cut until the teeth are formed.
Gear Hobbing: This process uses a rotating cutter to cut the teeth, creating accurate gear profiles for external spur gears.
Deburring: Any burrs or sharp edges left from the cutting process are removed to ensure proper function.
Straightening: If the rack has warped, hydraulic presses are used to straighten the teeth.
